On Sunday the 25th May 2008, 85th anniversary the National Graves Association honoured the Volunteers of the Civil War. The commemoration was held outside the Four Courts Dublin where on the 28th June1922 the bombardment by Free State Forces began.
National Grave members held Seventy- Seven Black crosses with each Volunteers name printed on the cross. The last Volunteer to be executed by the Free Sate took place on the 2nd of May 1923 in Ennis County Clare. The order for a cease fire and to dump arms was issued on the 24th May 1923.
